My first write in here on Mary Ann’s blog. First off I have to thank EVERYONE for their support! Cancer Sucks, there is no question about that one bit... We have officially started the battle and we are ready to fight… I have been asked several times about “How I am doing?” Well I can honestly say that I have been doing great. Mary Ann has been a true inspiration to me during these times. We all know that she is a fighter and has always had the “Bulldog” mentality. But she has really taken it to a whole new level during this process! First day of Chemo is almost in the books! During our appointment this morning, our Oncologist almost had to treat me for a heart condition. The oncologist had some good things to say this morning. Needless to say, I almost needed a new pair of underwear from excitement… We have a long road ahead of us and our experience at KU Med has been unbelievable so far. Sports rivalries are always in good fun to me and I have never really “hated” any one team… but this “Dream Team” at KU Med will make it impossible for me to ever pull for an opponent of the Hawks. Some have heard me say this before. This process has been humbling in so many different aspects. First it was the terrible news we got, then the humbling feeling of how lucky we were to have a good chance of beating this. My theme that I have been hanging on to every day: “If we can get through this to live a long, healthy life, and this is the worst thing to ever happen to us… I would consider us a very lucky couple” This is a horrible disease that effects so many lives. Thank you again to everyone for your support. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, but also please say an extra prayer for all of the Cancer Patients that are out there. Craiger |
