Please read "About" tab at the top of the page first, that will give you some back ground.
After what you now know has been a whirlwind of a week we have some things to focus on. I will have an MRI on Tuesday (22nd) so that they can get a more detailed look at what the surgeon is needing to remove. I will have a double mastectomy and need chemotherapy. The chemotherapy is necessary because of my age, and to treat me systemically so that the cancer does not come back anywhere else. The double mastectomy is necessary because I've always wanted nice new perky boobs! :). On Wednesday I will meet with Dr. Wagner and she will tell me the full pathology results, what my markers are, and what the process will be for me to move on with this wedding planning! On Thursday I will meet with oncology about what the treatment plan will be, and to implement Dr. Wagner's plan. We have a full schedule folks!
I wanted to create this blog, to get my feelings out, keep everyone updated, and eliminate my loved ones on having to repeat the story over and over. Initially this is a difficult thing to do. If you do not hear from us or do not see any updates for a while it is likely that we are busy loving one another and trying to have fun. We want you to be informed as possible, however this is going to be a rough road and we are going to need to focus on one another a lot. We cannot THANK everyone enough for the prayers, the wonderful meals, and support as we begin our journey.
I would like to ask everyone who is reading this blog to please not mention this on Facebook or any form of social media that is attached to me or my family. We are still trying to process this shocking news and our phones have been ringing off the hook ever since. I do not want this to come across as being brass or that we do not appreciate everyones support and prayers, we just want to keep this private between you all who are reading this and our family so that we can move through the next few weeks.
It is possible that other people will update the blog, when I am having chemo treatments, in surgery, etc. This will be an easy way for everyone to stay informed and for only one or two people to have to repeat the story. I love each and every one of you, and I cannot thank you or express my gratitude for not hesitating to help, give hugs, words of encouragement, or funny jokes.
This is the beginning of our Journey... hardly the end.
xoxo, Mary Ann
